Megan Anna Rapinoe is a Californian born on the 5th of July 1985. She started playing soccer at the age of just a small child and her talents were further developed in her teenage years. Her fraternal twin sister, Megan Rapinoe, also was a student at the University of Portland. Megan Rapinoe was a star in the team's soccer program at the University of Portland, being among the best players in women's soccer at collegiate levels across the United States. An injury to her knee forced Megan Rapinoe's absence for a portion of her junior and sophomore seasons. Then she returned to full-time soccer in her senior year and began playing in all games during the season. She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree Sociology at the University of Portland. Rapinoe's soccer career began in 2009. She was drafted by her team, the Chicago Illinois Red Stars from the recently formed Women's Professional Soccer WPS. Rapinoe was a player for the Red Stars up until the team's breakup in the latter part of 2010. Rapinoe's brief stay at The Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence was then sold into Boca Raton Florida. She scored two goals over only eight games, helping lead the magicJack to a third-place finish during the season. The magicJack dissolved in late 2011 and the WPS was disbanded at the start of 2012. Rapinoe played for Sydney Football Club FC in the Australian W-League for a couple games prior to her return to America. Her next team was Seattle Washington Sounders Women. After the WPS broke up the team was renamed Seattle Reign FC (now OL Reign) of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL. Rapinoe was eventually promoted to the post of captain, and was one of the club's top scorers. She first took part in the FIFA Women's World Cup in the year 2011. She was instrumental in leading her team U.S. Women's World Cup team to consecutive wins in 2015. She was appointed cocaptain. Rapinoe has won two bronze medals at her part in the United States' 4-3 win against Australia at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Japan has been postponed until 2021 by the COVID-19 virus spread.
